In a bid to provide the state's Male Masters and Female competitors with additional competitive opportunities in 2017, Surfing Queensland is once again bolstering the Queensland Masters Surfing Championship and Girls Surf Slam Queensland Championship to a combined two-event series.
The two-event series will crown Queensland Masters State Champions across the Over 35, Over 40, Over 45, Over 50, Over 55 and Over 60 Men's divisions as well as female competitors across the Open Women's and Over 35 divisions.
The series is an exclusive qualification pathway for competitors aiming for selection into the Queensland Surfing Team set to compete at the Australian Open Surfmasters Titles in July/August 2017.
Further, Queensland's Open Women's champion will once again get the oppertunity to surf in the 2018 Roxy Pro trials due to be held at Snapper Rocks.
As per the 2017 Surfing Australia Rule Book, allocations for the 2017 Australian Open Surf Masters Titles are as follows:
- Open Women (3)
- Over 35 Women (1)
- Over 35 Men (4)
- Over 40 Men (4)
- Over 45 Men (4)
- Over 50 Men (4)
- Over 55 Men (2)
- Over 60 Men (2)
Competitors may surf TWO divisions at the Queensland and subsequent National Titles.
Overall series winners will be based on competitors’ best two-of-two results therefore it is highly recommended to compete in both Event 1 and Event 2.
