Bump Nights and Jamvas Live Art are combining creating forces,
creating a new and unique Sunshine Coast live music event. HIGH TIDE at
the Harbour, Noosa's only live music fiesta.
High Tide Coordinator and Bumpin Nights DJ Roland West and Jamvas artist and live art Coordinator Renae Awen have joined forces with other well known and respected Sunshine Coast music industry performers and organizers such as Harii Bandhu (Harii Bandhu and the Bosonova Cowboys and Concert at Home Series) and Malcolm Prendeville ( PPS Productions, Woodford Folk Festival and The Full Moon Dance) to help fill the void that exists on the Sunshine Coast for quality live music events.
A talented DJ and accomplished musician in his own right, Roland West is incredibly passionate about creating world class music events on the Sunshine Coast. A successful DJ for the much loved and respected Bump Nights DJ's, Roland incorporates the same enthusiasm and attention to detail as he does to his DJ sets when creating a quality live music experience. From uncovering the ideal venues, to creating atmospheric lighting, only using the best quality sound and of course booking amazing bands. To create High Tide, the Marina undergoes an incredible transformation becoming one of Sunshine coasts best live music venues.
A visual artist and live music appreciator Renae Awen is passionate about creating a unique platform for local artists, established or emerging to gain exposure for their work, connect on a more interactive level with their audience through painting live and adding to the over all atmosphere and consciousness of the event. Very different to the typical gallery experience our Jamvas gallery lounge creates an atmosphere where artists and patrons can relax in a social, welcoming, creatively inspiring, unstructured and interactive space. Jamvas is the only live art event on the Sunshine Coast.
Back form an extensive tour of Canada, Sunshine Coasts own OKA Headline HIGH TIDE on April 16. It will be their first performance in Noosa for many years. One of Australia's best independent musical exports, OKA is a celebration of Australian cultures and when the raw rhythm of the didgeridoo combines with the OKA style dance driven grooves, the energy mustered from their fans is infectious. Try imagine Bob Marley meeting Stevie Wonder via the Chemical Brothers, on acid, playing in a steaming forest, and you begin to get the picture.
Supported by Bobby Alu's pacific grooves, afro rhythms, smooth harmony & good vibes. A well recognized drummer and percussionist for artists all over Australia, Bobby now also fronts his own groove-heavy solo project bringing island soul, sweet songs, percussion & good times.
Jamvas Live Art are very excited to have local emerging artist Evangeline Cachinero feature in the Jamvas Gallery lounge. Coinciding with her Solo Exhibition Monobrow at the Noosa Regional Gallery. Van has an insatiable appetite for experimenting with art and new mediums including painting, collage, sewing, digital media and video. Her works are both playful and insightful, rich and emotive, coasting on a fine line between fine art and design. This aspect of her work inspired her exhibition title. Is it high brow? Is it low brow? No it's Monobrow!
Local artist [Em]etic, who was recently invited to paint live with Brisbane live art music performance act The Red Paintings and Renae Awen will also be painting a collaborative piece live. The art work will be raffled off on the night to raise funds for the Japan Tsunami Relief.
Our local branch of Sea Shepherd will also be holding a market stall to help raise awareness and funds for Sea Shepherd, protecting and conserving our oceans. To further support local arts community HIGH TIDE is offering market stalls at the event for local arts and fashion proprietors for the small fee of $20.
Throw in special appearances by Harii Bandhu and The Bump DJ's Mike Burrel and Roland West, this is set to be one of the best High Tide Tides to date.
