This is a one-off event, made up of four mini-events taking place at four venues over the weekend of 22 - 24 January 2016.
The Pente Poets of the Sunshine Coast, in association with the Sunshine Coast Environment Council and Creative Alliance, are pleased to present Hinterland to Headland: Poetry in Place. This is a weekend of themed poetry readings at four iconic environmental and heritage venues on the Sunshine Coast hinterland and coast.
All the poems have been written for and about the Sunshine Coast with a poetry trail in mind, and will be read by the authors, all members of the Pente Poets. Heritage theme: At Yandina on 22nd January, the opening event begins at 6pm with welcome to country and didgeridoo playing by Lyndon Davis, following by reading of poems written about Yandina's history and heritage.
Ukulele music by Uke Crazy People, sausage sizzle, damper and drinks complete the evening.
Bushland theme: At the Maroochy Bushland and Botanic Gardens, Tanawha, on Saturday 23rd January, the poetry trail continues with readings at 10am in the Sculpture Garden.
Rainforest theme: Later that same day, Saturday 23rd January, readings will take place at the Butterfly Deck at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, near Maleny.
Coastal theme: The closing event takes place on 24th January at 6pm, on the Bluff at Alexandra Headlands. Here you can soak up the ambience of a full moon rising over the sea as the poets read their poetry about our coastline environment and lifestyle. Later, enjoy acoustic guitar, canapés and drinks from a pop-up bar.
