Historical Motor Cycle Club of Qld (HMCCQ), (Sunshine Coast) will be holding its Annual, Motor Cycle SWAP at Maleny Showground on Sunday 21st March, 2010.

The annual SWAP is to take place again, at Maleny Showground on Sunday, 21st March. This Event is one of the biggest and best SWAPs in Australia. It was established many years ago, originally for local enthusiasts of old motor cycles to obtain parts to restore their machines. However, as time has gone by , it has grown to include whole motorcycles, tools, and equipment from far and wide, to carry out this work BUT it must be noted that no dogs or bric-a-brac are allowed.

It is anticipated that there will be nearly 1000 stallholders from the region and interstate, which will give a nearly full Showground, The vendors start to arrive from 2 pm Saturday to set up their stands so that they are ready to trade at daylight on Sunday morning. To see all of the stalls will take many hours , so a very early arrival on Sunday morning is recommended. HMCCQ has organised a local group , LIONS Club, to provide good quality food and drink, to sustain everyone who attends, so there is no need to bring any food , even for breakfast.

There will be plenty of interesting items to view (many locals come along for a look but still go with something) no matter what your particular involvement. The 2009 SWAP attracted nearly 3000 visitors which, considering the inclement weather in the run up to the SWAP, gave an excellent result for the stall holders. This year the SWAP will continue until 12noon on Sunday when a series of lucky gate prizes will be drawn, winners must be in attendance to collect their prize.

An unexpected benefit for the region is the number of visitors attracted, who stay over, either before or after the SWAP. Accommodation is readily available in Maleny and close by across the Sunshine Coast.

The SWAP assists HMCCQ and its members to further develope the knowledge of motoring history and to participate in community and charitable events on a regular basis.

Stall holders can enter the Showground from 2pm on Saturday and the buyers from dawn on Sunday, the area will be well signposted and easy to find. Entry is $5 per person.
