H.M.S Pinafore is an hilarious tale of love and mistaken identities which unravels when the Captain's daughter falls in love with a common sailor. As always, things are seldom what they seem in Gilbert and Sullivan! In a world where "Love levels all ranks" and "All men are created equal, but some are more equal than others", this is a heart-warming nautical romance for everyone to enjoy, a "glorious spoof on English patriotism and establishment values".

Shipmates, ahoy! Let's give three cheers! Join the good crew of H.M.S Pinafore on their rollicking adventure for 'A Great Night at the Theatre'.

About H.M.S. Pinafore

Laura Coall, Soprano, and the Captain's daughter on 'HMS Pinafore', Savoyards second show of 2007 to be staged at The Events Centre in October.

Laura is no novice when it comes to Gilbert & Sullivan, having portrayed many of the leading romantic, lyric soprano roles in these comic operas. Including: Mabel (Pirates), Yum Yum (The Mikado) and of course Josephine (HMS Pinafore) for Newcastle Gilbert and Sullivan audiences. She is making her debut as Josephine with Savoyards in Brisbane portraying the latter with great conviction.

With degrees in music and education, Laura 's interests and talents stretch from opera (The Songbird (Opera Queensland) and works with Queensland Conservatorium GU) to cabaret (Red Room Cabaret. Jammin' Festival), music theatre (La Cage aux Folles, The Sound of Music and more) to concert performances (Handel's Messiah, St Matthew's Passion, Les Noces and Beethoven Mass in C). Her quintet performs regularly around the Sunshine Coast and Redcliffe, singing contemporary music.

Savoyards is delighted to welcome Laura aboard and invite you to enjoy her 'splendid' performance in this latest Savoyards production that will also tour to Maryborough.

Warren Pennell  ~ Tenor, an Able Seaman aboard the 'HMS Pinafore', Savoyards second show of 2007 to be staged at The Events Centre in October.

Singing and Musical Theatre has been part of Warren's life for almost twenty years, performing with various societies, choirs and community groups including solo performances at public events such as Carols By Candlelight. A tenor is always in demand; his striking stage presence makes him very sort after for many a romantic lead - Ralph Rackstraw is no exception!

In 1994 Warren appeared as 'Marius' in Les Misérables, followed by the lead role of 'Jean Val Jean' in 2002. His vocal gift was put to the test in the role of 'Prince Carl Franz' in the Student Prince in 1995. Playing the role of 'Jesus' in Jesus Christ Superstar in 1997 and 2005 demonstrates the amazing vocal flexibility and quality of his wonderful talent. His sense of humour is never far away - he has played the role of 'Elvis' impersonating Pharaoh in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat. 2004 saw Warren indulge in his first G&S in the role of 'Nanki-Poo' from The Mikado.

Savoyards is delighted to welcome Warren aboard and invite you to enjoy his 'splendid' performance in this latest Savoyards production that will also tour to Maryborough.
Alec Raymond  ~ Tenor, First Lord of the Admiralty, ventures aboard HMS Pinafore, Savoyards second show of 2007 to be staged at The Events Centre in October.

Since performing in HMS Pinafore as a high school student, Alec has wanted to play the role of Sir Joseph Porter but instead landed the bosomy role of Little Buttercup (it was an all boys school!) Thirty-seven years later he will realise his dream!

Alec was first bitten by the 'theatre bug', aged 10, and went on to play in pantomime and plays and memorable high school G & S productions. Joining Savoyards in 1976, he has performed in or directed 9 G & S operas, 5 operettas, directed 3 Broadway shows and performed in 11 others including Henry Higgins (My Fair Lady), Nathan Detroit (Guys and Dolls), Ike Skidmore (Oklahoma) and Bela Zangler (Crazy For You). G & S is his first love and Alec has relished playing the roles of Koko (The Mikado) and JW Wells (Sorceror).

Savoyards is delighted to welcome Alec aboard, and invite you to enjoy his 'splendid' performance in this latest Savoyards production that will also tour to Maryborough.
