Hols at the Library
Good Reading will be the theme of the Noosa Library's School Holiday programme, with a range of surprise activities focussing on books short-listed for the 2004 Children's Book Council Awards.
All ages will be catered for at Wednesday morning surprise, surprise sessions to be held on June 30th and July 7th between 10.00 and 11.30.
The seven to ten year age group will feature on Friday mornings July 2nd and 9th between 10.00 and 11.30 (all to be revealed on the day).
Tens and overs will have their own Pupil Free Fun Day on Monday, July 12th with activities from 10.00 am to 12 noon, exploring the world of TRUCK DOGS.
This short listed tome tells the story of a gang of young half-truck, half-dogs that live in a place like an Australian outback town. Out of sheer boredom they get up to all sorts of mischief. Then the baddies, the Rottwheelers, roll into town and adventures begin. (During a two-hour workshop, participants will learn more about these fascinating mechanical animals, creating their own dog profiles and designs, and making individual Truck Dogs from plasticine and clay.)
And the short-listed books this year will include :
• Two Summers
• Shutting the Chooks in
• Milli, Jack and the Dancing Cat
• The Violin Man
• Truckdogs: a novel in four bites
• Stella by the Sea
• Grandpa and Thomas
• Reggie, Queen of the Street
• Snap! Went Chester
• Baby Boomsticks
• Little Humpty
