Homegrown Festival March 2004, free entry:

The Alex Skate Park will once again come alive to the sounds of some of South East Queensland's leading Youth acts on March 14 with the staging of the eighth Homegrown Festival.

With previous events attracting up to 3,500 people, the festival returns again with a larger program of activities and musical performances.

This year's musical line-up over two stages will feature, Hotel 44, Imagination, Void if Removed, No Innocents, Kirsty McWilliams, Grimiour, Sebaini, Instinct, as well as strong local Sunshine Coast bands.
The festival will also feature an extensive range of activities and attractions, including a surf competition that will be hosted by Excel Surf Academy, a skate comp hosted by Skate Biz, visual arts and performance workshops hosted by Wickid Arts, carnival rides, great food, children's activities and over 50 items to giveaway sponsored by leading surf and skate labels.

Festival Director Brett Gadenne said the March 2004 festival would build on the success of the past Homegrown events to create once again a significant event for the young people of the Sunshine Coast area.

"Although this is a festival for everyone, with some excellent musicians coming from Brisbane to perform alongside local artists," he said.

"The unique thing about the Homegrown Festival is that you can enjoy music, surfing, swimming, Skate Park activities great food or children can get involved in hands-on experiences through workshops.

"This year we've added workshops by Wickid Arts to the festival, featuring a great line-up of drama and art for younger people".

"With the Alex Skate Park already renowned for its Youth Activities, the Homegrown Festival will confirm the Parks identity once again as a safe central location for the young people of the coast to hang out."

The HOMEGROWN Festival will be held in the Alex Skate Park Site on Sunday, March 14 2004, with music and entertainment from 11am until 6pm.

Youth SITE had co-ordinated another youth event here on the Sunshine Coast.  Youth SITE is a not for profit organisation which is made up of a team of volunteers who put on activities for young people.
