Christine Harris and HIT Productions
are proud to present an Australian icon

This award winning play tells the story of 3 sisters who grew up together in seaside Sorrento. Hilary lives in the family home in Sorrento with her father and 16-year-old son. Pippa, a businesswoman is visiting from New York and Meg, a successful writer, returns from England. When the 3 sisters are reunited after 10 years apart they again feel the constraints of family life and all the dramas that eventuate.

HIT Productions is extremely excited about this tour as it will mark the 25th tour since the company first began touring in 1999. This iconic play will be welcomed and enjoyed by audiences Australia wide. This will be HIT's fourth production of Hotel Sorrento and one that will see many of the previous cast returning including John Flaus and Celia de Burgh from the original 1998 production at The CUB Malthouse and Jane Nolan and Beverley Dunn from HIT's 2000 tour. Hotel Sorrento also features, Kevin Harrington who we all remember as the lovable David Bishop on Neighbours, the wonderful Roger Oakley who graced our television screens as Tom Fletcher on Home and Away; HIT Productions also welcomes Marcella Russo who is so fondly remembered as David Bishop's endearing wife Liljana on Neighbours and is delighted to have Jarrad Daperis play Troy.

Hotel Sorrento - written by acclaimed playwright Hannie Rayson is directed by Bruce Myles who has a distinguished career and recently directed Wallflowering for HIT Productions. The set and costume design is by Judith Cobb, with the lighting design created by Glenn Hughes.

This 2006 tour will be touring Australia-wide to over 45 venues and will be a brand new production with a more edgier and contemporary feel. Director Bruce Myles said, 'Hannie Rayson said she wanted to, "create a sweet pensive sadness to pervade the experience as there is something delectable about melancholy which seems to alter the way we see things." This is the tone in the writing she has captured exquisitely, and is the great attraction of the play for me.'

'With Hotel Sorrento, I wanted to write a play of ideas; something which would send an audience out into the night with all sorts of things to talk about over coffee'.
Hannie Rayson
