About Sola Voce Sola Voce is a Brisbane-based not for profit organization supporting young, talented musicians.
Under the musical direction of Réka Csernyik, Sola Voce’s ensembles are renowned for their high-caliber performances.

Based at St Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Brisbane, Sola Voce offers one of Brisbane’s best choral groups, open to studying musicians and young professionals.
After both national and international success with its parent ensemble, Sola Voce Chamber Choir, Réka was inspired to create an early music performance ensemble consisting of a small group of young talented vocalists and instrumentalists.

Specialising in Renaissance and early Baroque chamber music, the Sola Voce Ensemble intends to bring unique and rarely performed scores to life.
Through staging historically-informed interpretations that are engaging and entertaining, the ensemble aims to make such works more accessible to an Australian audience.

About Il Festino Published in Venice in 1608, Il Festino nella sera del giovedì grasso translates to Fête in the evening of Shrove Tuesday Before Dinner was written to “give worldly pleasure” to its listeners and performers.
Banchieri’s doctrines of modern music appear in the narrated introduction as well as in various musical movements.
He ridicules the “old school” of Renaissance vocal polyphony while introduces the new, Baroque style as Modern Delight.

The Commedia dell’arte characters come onto stage entertaining the audience to celebrate the carnival’s last night of festivities before their forty days of Lenten devotion.
Join Sola Voce Ensemble at Il Festino and enjoy their exquisite performance in a concert of irreverent, coarse and very secular humour.
