INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE Opening Ceremony with Nedhni Apache/Cherokee and United Nations Peace Ambassador J. Reuben Silverbird. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring September 21st of each year as the International Day of Peace and to be observed as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, inviting non governmental organisations and individuals to commemorate in an appropriate manner.
A Peace Pole is an internationally recognised symbol of Hopes and Dreams of the entire human familty. It is an eight sided pillar with "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in different languages on the plaques. There are more than 250,000 Peace Poles in 180 countries, proudly standing in silent vigil for world peace. Join in Prayer for Peace around the World, attending a special ceremony at The Peace Pole at Lyell Deer Farm, Mt Samson on 21 September 2010 from 10.00am.
Experience a Native American Flute Blessing conducted by Peace Ambassador J. Reuben Silverbird as part of the opening ceremony, which will be followed by Native American Drumming and Celtic Music.
