International Midwives Day is a annual global event held to celebrate the contribution midwives make to the health and wellbeing of mothers and babies.
On 5th May, starting at 7am a group of midwives will leave the activity hut at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort to take a relaxed walk around the lake (1.7klms), with an option of taking a stroll along the beach (2.5klms). Midwives would like to invite local women and their families to join them to celebrate International Day of the Midwife.
On this day each year the world celebrates the contribution that midwives make to supporting women. each year a theme is chosen. In 2017 the theme focuses on - Midwives, Mothers and Families: Partners for Life! With this sentiment the Australian College of Midwives would like to walk with women to celebrate this annual international recognition of midwifery. Afterwards, at 8.30 - 10am breakfast to celebrate International Day of the Midwives will be held at Novotel Twin Waters Resort.
The President of the ACM Professor Caroline Homer, CEO Ann Kinnear and the Board of Directors will be joined by Speaker Mrs. Stacey O'Brien, and local midwives.
