Join the SES Cadets
Maroochy Shire State Emergency Service (SES) is seeking enthusiastic high school students to join their highly respected Cadet program.
Maroochy Shire Mayor, Alison Grosse, said the Cadet Program was a wonderful opportunity for young people to learn valuable skills while helping their local communities.
"For those considering a future career with the Police, Ambulance, Fire and Rescue or other emergency services, the SES Cadet Program is a great introduction," Cr Grosse said.
"It is also a fun and interesting way to make new friends".
An induction afternoon for young people aged from 13 years and their parents will be held at the Maroochydore SES Unit on Syd Lindgard Drive (near the basketball courts in Elizabeth Daniels Park), Buderim on Sunday 15 February from 2.00pm to 3.30pm.
Training is held on Monday nights where Cadets learn many of the emergency and rescue skills necessary for SES volunteers. Courses include First Aid, injury and trauma management, bushcraft and camping, boating safety, fire prevention and awareness, fire extinguisher operation, map reading and navigation, search and rescue techniques, knots and lashings, leadership, team building and communications.
The Cadet Program is free to join and there are no ongoing fees. Uniforms and working clothes are also supplied.
