The Kawana business community will come together on Thursday, 10 March to hear from local election candidates as part of a pre-election forum, and also receive an update on the progress of the NBN within the region.
Linda Delamotte, President of the Kawana Chamber of Commerce — which is hosting the event — said each of the Division 3 and Division 4 candidates would deliver a short presentation to attendees, and this would be followed by a ‘Q&A’ session.
“The forum presents a great opportunity for local business owners and operators to gain an understanding of the policies put forward by each of the candidates in their local area, enabling them to make an informed decision on election day.”
“Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates at the event, ensuring all topics of concern to the Kawana business community are addressed.”
Ms Delamotte said one key issue that would be raised at the event was the roll-out of the NBN across the Sunshine Coast.
“The digital future of the Sunshine Coast is undoubtedly an important focus area for local businesspeople so Telstra will also be present at the event to deliver an update regarding the roll-out.”
“At present, it is expected approximately 26,000 lots will have NBN connectivity in April this year, so now is the time for business and community members alike to make sure their home or business is NBN-ready.”
