Kenilworth Celebrates! is an annual visual and performing arts extravaganza, held in the town of Kenilworth, in the Heart of the Mary Valley, from the 28th September - 11th October 2014.
The weekend of fun is the 4th – 5th October. (We start wil the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra performance on Sunday 28th, then workshops (prebooked) and hanging art work. Judging and prize giving Friday 3rd, Fun weekend and the exhibitions remain open till Saturday 11th Oct.
Now in its 16th year, Kenilworth Celebrates!, has grown from a ‘special’ visual arts section in Kenilworth’s Annual Show and Rodeo, to a ten day event, incorporating three exhibitions, competitions, workshops, demonstrations and performances. Local sponsors donate prize money.
Kenilworth Celebrates! began in this small community as a response to a number of adverse social and economic events (Dairy deregulation, changes to forest management, being included in the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam footprint, flooding with bridges washed away and significant damage to roads).
Kenilworth Celebrates! now creates substantial economic benefits to the community, by bringing up to 5,000 people from all over Australia and New Zealand, to our rural area during the ten days of operations. Kenilworth is widely known as an art centre, and promotes the many natural attractions of the Mary Valley.
The Art Festival, including exhibitions and workshops, is a major attraction and extends from 28th September to Saturday 11th October 2014.
