Kids in Action will have a new format in 2017, with two sites hosting Environment Projects Day on May 5.

We’re excited to announce that a Kids in Action Environment Projects Day will also be hosted at Stumers Creek near Coolum.

Registrations close on March 31 so if your school hasn’t signed up already, be sure to secure your spot for this year’s exciting program: http://bit.ly/2fzKV4J

The Environmental Projects Day engages student’s in education and citizen science activities.

Student's will participate in rotating, practical, hands on conservation activities designed to develop a more complex understanding of our local environment.

It will encourage them to feel like informed, confident and capable citizens able to combat challenges and actively protect their environment.

The day also provides an opportunity to become acquainted with community mentors, to provoke ideas, and to stimulate interest in the 2017 Kids in Action conference theme.

The theme for the Sunshine Coast Kids in Action Conference 2017 is “Relationships Matter”.

Schools can explore this overall theme through the following sub-themes:

Ecology Lives – appreciating the importance and function of relationships between organisms, and between organisms and their environments while recognising some of the challenges to healthy functioning eco-systems

A Sense of Place – understanding the depth of connection people have to their places and spaces and how they represent and are inspired by these connections

Living Together – considering the ways different communities and societies meet their needs while living peacefully together

The Kids in Action programme engages students in learning about the environment through a 'kids teaching kids' approach. Participants will:
•    Present their workshop to fellow students
•    Watch other schools present their workshops
•    Participate in hands-on activities as part of the Environmental Projects Day
•    Develop an active role for a greener future.
