Who will be the next Mountain King?
Who will be the next Mountain King at this year's 28th Pomona King of the Mountain. Crowds will gather on Sunday 22nd July at Stan Topper Park in Pomona to witness a new record attempt.
Come along and get involved starting with the famous bush poet's breakfast at 7am through until 9.30am. Admission to the Poet's Breakfast is by ticket only and numbers are limited. The 10km and 3km fun runs are scheduled for 8.00am and 8.30am respectively. The Primary School Relays will start at 9.30am followed by prize giving at 11.00am.
A full line-up of professional entertainers for your enjoyment through out the day including "Friends in No Places" will be performing on main stage; in the food area we have "Cooee Gully". All day the well known "Jazz Factory" will be performing. The bar will be open from 10.00am and the food outlets will operate all day. Come along and see Linsey Pollak, Ric Halstead and Brendan Hook in the world premier of "The Cycologists" perform throughout the day.
Kay-Dee Promotions will again provide lots of rides and fun attractions. "All Star Fish' will be roaming the park and entertaining the youngsters. Also for your enjoyment we have clowns roaming, Line Dancing, Rock and Roll dancing by the "Gold Dust Rockers" and Tac Kwai Do demonstration.
The popular 'pig racing' will again be present thanks to the Pomona Hotel as will the BMX and Motorcycle Stunt riders showing their skills throughout the day. The craft market will operate all day with many new and varied stalls.
Who said Cooroora has no talent. The COOROORA'S GOT TALENT quest is a new addition to this year's event. Students from Cooroora secondary college will be performing entertaining acts for your enjoyment from 12.30pm - 2pm in the main stage. We have 3 well known local identities willing to brave the crowds to select a Cooroora winner.
The day climaxes at 3.00pm when runners try to conquer the gruelling 6.5km mountain race.
This year we are holding a variety of several interactive workshops for all ages. Bookings for these can be made on the day. Details of the workshops can be obtained from the website as the event gets closer.
