C&K Mooloolaba Early Learning Centre will be raising funds and spirits by hosting their third annual La Galleria dei Bambini on Friday 8 November from 6.30pm – 9pm.
This exciting gallery evening is this local daycare’s major fundraising event and is open to the public. Face painting, art installations, art for sale, delicious multicultural food, an appearance by Bronco’s legend Billy Moore and the ‘Sunshine Coast Ukulele band’ all ensuring a fun evening for the whole family.
The name “La Galleria dei Bambini” means children’s gallery in Italian. 198 friends and families turned up to the first art show and over 400 to the event last year. The C&K team hopes with the support of the local community this year’s event will be the biggest and best yet.
The major Sunshine Coast floods in January and March 2012 devastated this Mooloolaba centre twice with over 3 feet of water and mud. The children lost everything from the gardens and play equipment, to toys and crafts. Slowly the centre is rebuilding thanks to the support of the local community and funds raised from the evening will go towards continuing this great work.
C&K Mooloolaba Director Jacqui Porteous said they hope La Galleria dei Bambini will provide the means for them to purchase much-needed equipment, and has given the children something exciting to focus on.
“We lost everything in the floods and had to completely restock the centre with toys and furniture and rebuild the gardens. The gallery started in 2011 as an exciting way to display the children’s art to their family and friends, and has now grown into our major fundraising event for the year,” said Jacqui Porteous.
The gallery will display a collection of the children’s art, which will be available for purchase on the night.
“This year’s theme is art through recyclables, so the children have made all pieces from old household items and commercial left-overs. Our aim was to educate each other to see potential value in recyclable materials and be environmentally conscious, a message which is particularly important given the material losses we have suffered over the past year.
“The children have helped put together every aspect of the evening, and even made menu recommendations for our outdoor a la carte dining area.”
In addition to the children’s gallery activities available on the night will include face painting, a jellybean jar competition, and a spirited performance from a local ukulele band.
There will also be some fantastic prizes available including a family holiday in Mooloolaba, Broncos signed jersey, a $1000 Star Shots voucher, Alexandra Headlands surf club dinner vouchers, movie tickets, Body Shop facials and goodies and more.
C&K Mooloolaba looks after over 65 local children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
