Lake Kawana puts on the ritz for Race Day
The best view in the house won't be trackside - for a sure bet this Melbourne Cup, its got to be the Lake Kawana Community Centre.
The venue, overlooking Lake Kawana, is set to become the Coast's new hotspot when it pulls out all the glitz and glamour to host its inaugural Race Day celebrations.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the Lake Kawana Community Centre will host its first ever Melbourne Cup luncheon with a special super-sized cinema screen for eager race-goers keen to escape the heat, dust and crowds of Corbould Park.
"For keen punters or for those more interested in the fashion stakes, Lake Kawana is offering punters the chance to enjoy it all - the fashion, the socialising, and of course the opportunity to watch the race on the big screen, all from the comfort of an air-conditioned venue," Cr Aldous said.
"Get a group of friends or work colleagues together and book a table to enjoy one of the country's most loved traditions."
Tickets are $60 each, or $450 per table (seats eight).
The cost includes free champagne on arrival, a three course meal and live music. There will also be plenty of prizes up for grabs, as well as giveaways, raffles, sweeps and much more, with all proceeds to benefit a local charity.
