It's the school holidays, let's get outside and have some fun!

The Living Classroom will be visiting Lulu's Perch, a beautiful farm and permaculture garden in Pinbarren and we invite kids aged 7-14yrs to join us outdoors and in the garden for a fun and interactive school holiday program!

Our school holiday program is choc full of fun activities set to inspire children to get into the garden and grow their own food. Kids will be amazed by the knowledge and enthusiastic teachings of Aaron Mears, where he will share his knowledge of permaculture practices and traditional cultures in an easy and interactive way while we play in the vegetable patch.

Kids will love jumping straight into the wonderful world of gardening by exploring the established gardens, discovering what’s growing, mixing garden potions to feed the soil and getting up close to the mini helpers in the garden such as worms and beneficial bugs. Not to mention the cute farm animals that are waiting to say hi. Did we mention miniature goats, ducks and chickens?

But that’s not all, participants will also be able to try their hand in the kitchen with wholefood cook Vanessa Schofield, where she will share her love of simple traditional cooking and celebrate the vitality of vibrant fresh food by using the produce the kids are learning to grow in the garden in a wonderful array of tasty recipes which the team will share throughout the day.

Kids will get opportunities to explore the garden and kitchen program throughout the day. They will learn the basic permaculture principles, how to design a vegetable garden, how to companion plant vegetables in guilds, basic earthworks and food forests, they will then have the opportunity to explore how to turn those vegetables and fruits into nutritious and simple meals, and then return the food scraps to the earth through composting techniques.

Please wear covered in shoes and bring a hat, water bottle and sunscreen. A piece of fruit for a shared afternoon tea would also be welcomed.

Morning Tea and Lunch will be provided, made on the day by the team and shared in the garden.

We will finish the day with afternoon tea and a refreshing splash in the pool so bring togs and a towel as well!

Parents are welcome to pick up between 1.30-2.15 pm

We are running the workshops over several days during the school holidays. Each session will be unique with lots to learn and do each day. Book in for one or more days this school holidays!
