Reading Rocks the Library
The announcement of Australia's Children's Books of the Year Awards on August 20 marks the beginning of a month-long celebration of reading at the Noosa Library, where everyone is welcome to drop in to check out the exhibit and hear "reading rocks" during Book Week.
The annual awards for excellence in different categories of books for young people give Australian authors and illustrators recognition and demonstrate the wealth of great children's literature available.
Local authors with a special message will also make an appearance at the Library on Thursday, September 1st at a morning tea to kick off Adult Learners' Week.
Parents as First Teachers will highlight positive reinforcement of learning for young children, with special emphasis on safety issues.
On Friday, September 2nd at 11.00 am, Noosa Library will join organisations from all over Australia in a national simultaneous Storytime event. Call in at the Library to enjoy a taste of "Wombat Stew" as staff share this classic Australian book by Marcia Vaughan.
Coast Reads - Vote for your favourite book! Throughout September, readers are also invited to vote for their favourite book of all time. Come to the Library to case your votes for Noosa's most treasured books for young and old alike.
