Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) proudly presents TWELVE ACTS OF CABARET featuring a star-studded line up of international, national and local cabaret acts offering the best nights out for entertainment this winter in Brisbane.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said that the increased diversity and popularity of this art form was reflected in the TWELVE ACTS OF CABARET program.
"The genre of cabaret is growing as is audience demand for the kinds of performances and artists it encompasses. It's adventurous, bold and fun. Over the twelve nights you will never have the same experience twice," said Kotzas.

Mark your diary now for Thursday to Saturday nights from 2 to 25 June 2011 and get along to QPAC's Cremorne Theatre, which will be transformed into an intimate cabaret club, as TWELVE ACTS OF CABARET showcases the hottest talent in the business -- including 10 Brisbane premieres and 8 new shows.

The lyrical, laughable and licentious TWELVE ACTS OF CABARET program kicks off with the sublime on and off stage duo, Rachael Beck and Ian Stenlake, coming together for a special evening of cabaret in YOU & I, a show full of love, life and new adventures performed by two favourite musical theatre and TV stars.

TWELVE ACTS OF CABARET features some of the best female cabaret performers from Australian and overseas. Cabaret icon and TV villain Jane Badler stars in her new show TEARS AGAIN, a razor sharp, highly stylised collection of songs set in a soapy world of betrayal and boozy melancholy.

Direct from France, Caroline Nin presents HYMN A PIAF, returning to Brisbane after her sell-out 2010 season. Fans of Edith Piaf know there is more to the little sparrow than, Non, je ne regrette rien.
Lisa Adams brings Amy Winehouse's car-crash of a life to QPAC in her show, AMY HOUSEWINE: BACK TO CRACK, a performance that dishes the dirt on her life as a singer, poet and "professional crack-whore" and features classic songs like Love to have a Beer with Amy, If I Only Had Cocaine and, of course, the ironically iconic Rehab.

TWELVE ACTS OF CABARET has also programmed the crme de la crme in male cabaret performers for Brisbane audiences.

Before Barbra! Before Bette! there was the fabulous Frances Faye. Charismatic performer Nick Christo (Sydney Cabaret Showcase winner) pays tribute to one of the bawdiest broads of all time in this wild cocktail of swinging jazz, crazy bongo rhythms, smoke-dipped one liners and cool ex husbands on horn! Nick will be serving up all of Faye's finger snapping shakers like Fever, Shimmy like my Sister Kate and The Man I Love in THE FABULOUS FRANCES FAYE IN AUSTRALIA.

The iconic Paul Capsis is hitting the Cremorne stage with his brand new show MAKE ME A KING; exploring the rich legacy of his musical heroes and influences including Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington and REM.

TWELVE ACTS OF CABARET marks the Brisbane debut of the multi-talented Tim Draxl with his show FREEWAY: THE CHET BAKER JOURNEY. Two-time Helpmann and Green Room Award winner, Mitchell Butel returns to the cabaret stage with KILLING TIME and New York cabaret and concert star Steve Ross performs The Great American SongBook.

A special DOUBLE BILL will showcase emerging cabaret artists and recent winners at the Sydney Cabaret Showcase -- Toby Francis in BLOKELAHOMA! and Brisbane performer Gillian Cosgriff in WAITRESSING & OTHER THINGS I DO WELL -- described by David Campbell as the female Tim Minchin.

The Cremorne Theatre will open its doors an hour before each show, so grab your wine and cheese (pre-purchase available for those booking tables) and settle in for the night. And there is no need to rush home with doors remaining open for 30 minutes after each show, so you can take your time and extend your cabaret experience.
