The forum will ensure that local businesses are well positioned to benefit from about $1 billion worth of State Government and Sunshine Coast Council capital infrastructure projects rolling out on the Sunshine Coast over the next two years.
The forum, to be held at Lake Kawana Community Centre on 13 September, will be presented by Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sunshine Coast and the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council.
RDA Sunshine Coast chair Cr Debbie Blumel said the forum would boost business confidence by helping locals to tap into major projects being run by Council, Queensland Health, Ramsay Healthcare, Project Services, Department of Transport and Main Roads and Qbuild.
“A significant number of major regional development projects and investments are taking shape right now.”
Cr Blumel said key projects in the spotlight would include Queensland Government projects across a number of departments, as well as Council projects including the Sunshine Coast Airport upgrade, Maroochydore Bus Station, Sippy Downs Drive, Brisbane Road, David Low Way streetscape, Munna Point Bridge and Evans Street.
“RDA Sunshine Coast works by developing up our own regional assets, resources and people to build more prosperous and resilient regional industries. We need local industries to win tenders and create local jobs to keep money turning over within the Sunshine Coast region,” she said.
“By assisting businesses, by building their awareness and capacity, we are ensuring the future prosperity of the region and creating local jobs.”
