SEWING NEWS Sharing and furthering the art of Sewing in Australia. The Tewantin Neighbourhood Group (Guilded Lilies Sewing Circle) of the Australian Sewing Guild will meet on Saturday 23rdh February 2013 at the Masonic Hall, cnr Moorindil & Toolar Sts Tewantin Qld 4565 commencing at 9 am until 3.00 pm. Carolyn Lorking will conduct a Workshop on Making a Nightdress on the Overlocker. Last month members cut out the nightdress in preparation for this workshop.
If you haven’t done so and wish to attend please phone Iris to book and for a copy of the pattern. What to bring: Lunch, List of Requirement as listed below: NIGHTDRESS MUST BE CUT OUT ON THE BIAS - READY TO SEW: Material for Nightdress: 2,10 metres of 115cm material or 1.90 metres of 140cm material Material to be woven - Batiste or light weight cotton or Polycotton, NOT POLYESTER or striped material.
2 Standard Overlocking Threads to match material 1 Woolly Nylon Thread or Embroidery Thread Laces: 1 mtr Insertion Lace ¾” wide 1½ mtrs Edge Lace 1” wide or not less then ¾ “ wide. The group meet on the last Saturday of every month in a friendly environment and explore both basic dressmaking and decorative sewing techniques.
