5 March 2007 Making your Market - focus on craft & commercialisation
The popular Caloundra Regional Art Gallery's Making your Market series of seminars focussing on the business of art is about to kick off with the first seminar for the year, Crafts & Commercialisation, next Tuesday 13 March.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the gallery has responded to a need from local artists, particularly emerging and career orientated artists, to provide practical and relevant information about business related aspects of being an artist in the 21st Century.
"This seminar will be again presented by experienced people who understand the arts, the sessions will feature real life examples by artists and arts related workers," Cr Aldous said.
Presenters for the seminar include successful well known local artists Glen Manning and Johanna De Maine. Both have exhibited widely and have work in many national and International collections.
Glen has worked in a variety of areas including sculptural public art commissions for corporate and government clients as well as designing a range of artworks for commercial production, while Johanna can boast that Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II of England, Crown Prince Frederick and Princess Mary of Denmark are owners of her work.
Artists, students or people with an interest in the arts industry can reserve their place at this free event by contacting the gallery on (07) 5420 8299 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
This is the fifth Making Your Market seminar, an initiative of the Gallery to support the development of the region's creative industries. The seminars are partnered by Sajen legal, who offer expert assistance and advice in many of business aspects presented.
Making your Market will be held on Tuesday 13 March 10-30 am - 12.30pm, at the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery.
