Greatly needed Children's Swimming School to open in Tanawha with Child Care and Grade 1 -- 3 School adjacent
Helping to stop children's drowning deaths on the sunshine coast...
My name is James Thorogood and I am a resident in Gordon Drive at Tanawha and local business owner near where they propose to build a Children's Learn To Swim Centre, Child Care Facility and Prep School at 188 -- 202 Glenmount Road, Tanawha (next to the Hay Shed) Lot 11 RP862565. The facility will house a 222 student child care centre, children's learns to swim school and an early childhood school with grades 1 -- 3 for 81 students.
In the past few days I have had a couple of letters in my mailbox from other residents in this street opposing this development and I myself cannot understand why.
This is a great concept and much needed on the coast, too many children drown in family swimming pools every year and this facility will help to significantly drop that number of deaths, to me that is as good a reason as any to make sure this facility has the full support of the community. It will also provide much needed jobs for the region in these economically trying times and service the growing number of families in this area of the sunshine coast.
I feel sorry for the small minded minority who object this project, why some people are so scared of change is beyond me, it provides a service lots of families will need and use, it provides jobs to the region and it will only add to the value of local houses and land in our area not to mention again!...SAVE CHILDRENS LIVES.
I phoned one of the people against this proposal tonight and you know what the only reason he could give for objecting to this project was that "There will be more traffic flowing onto Tanawha Tourist Drive and he would have to wait longer to get onto the road." Well I never heard anything quite so silly before. These persons or people obviously do not have children or care for the future welfare or education of the communities children.
People of the sunshine coast I call for your support in making sure our coast grows and expands and I strongly feel that this project will service all of the families in the new area of Sippy Downs not to mention Buderim and Tanawha. This establishment will save so many children's lives by teaching them to swim and the quiet location is an ideal place to have a centre where children will be present. Even in an economic downturn our coast continues to thrive and expand and as a community we need to support that and get behind small business.
Please support me in making sure this development goes ahead.
