Montessori fete -- fun for all
FUN is a key aspect of Harmony Montessori educational message and there will be no shortage of it at the school's From Big Things Little Things Grow fete in August.
Fete co-ordinator and school mum Jo-ann Sharp said activities and entertainment will be on offer for all ages but the main focus of the event is aimed at children, with a huge array of activities planned to keep them entertained for the day.
"We have aimed to make the day fun and educational at the same time," Jo-ann said.
Activities will include live musical performances, a story telling corner with interactive books, a music workshop, kid's yoga, Wu Tao dance, a martial arts performance and face painting.
A highlight for the school's students will be the launch of their CD, From Big Things Little Things Grow, a recording of original nursery rhymes performed by the students.
They will also take to the main stage to do a live performance as part of the promotion for the CD.
"This is such an exciting opportunity for them," Jo-ann said.
But adults haven't been forgotten in the day's activities, with a diverse range of stalls to browse, selling everything from art and candles to essential oils and massages.
There will also be a workshop in silversmithing for those feeling a little creative.
Food stalls will focus on local fresh, organic and home-made items, including locally grown strawberries, organic fruit, vegetables and honey and home-made cakes and toffees.
The school's children will also man a lemonade stall, featuring home-made lemonade.
Caboolture's Harmony Montessori Children's House CEO Glenda Sawtell said while the day is a fundraising event for the school, it also showcases Montessori's approach to learning.
"Montessori's educational approach fosters a child's natural curiosity to learn and encourages them to do this through play and activities that are fun," Glenda said.
The Montessori philosophy puts great emphasis on the environment and creating areas of beauty and order that are conducive to positive learning and self development.
The fete will be held at Lions Park Rickmans Parade , Woorim foreshore Bribie Island from 9am to 2pm on Saturday August 14.
