Mooloolah Valley is turning 150 and is set to celebrate its sesquicentenary year in historical fashion. Celebrating our Heritage, Environment, Creativity and Unique Community Spirit there will be a calendar of events that mark this most auspicious occasion.
Events include a Pioneering Picnic Day as the major event at the Recreation Grounds, a Historical Photography Exhibition and Reunion Morning Tea in the Mooloolah Community Hall. In addition, Mooloolah Community Centre will be holding a Classroom Reinactment dating back to the early days when the centre operated as a local school. Also part of the celebrations, the community is coming together for an activity day at Ewan Maddock Dam, Whites IGA will be holding a Morning Tea in the park at "Martin Rungert Park", to coincide with the arrival of the Historic Steam train and a Commemorative Ceremony will be held at the Village Green.
Other smaller activities will link in with the major events so watch this space. All major events will be held between the 19th – 27th October 2013. We are currently seeking sponsors and community volunteers for this wonderful community driven calendar of events. If you would like to become a sponsor a prospectus is now available. Alternatively, if you would like to contribute in kind or be part of the coordination of activities it’s not too late. Please contact Jean Crowe from the Hinterland Community Development Assoc. at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0418720515.
