More Than Meets The Eye - The true story of the best blind wrestler the world has ever seen.
Having just returned from a very successful 10 day promotional tour in New Zealand I am now excited to invite you to two launch events for the book being held on the Sunshine Coast - one in Noosa and one in Alexandra Headland.
The book which is about my grandfather's incredible life is a story I have always felt compelled to share to inspire others that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE because for his whole life, my grandfather was clinically blind.
After living through some of New Zealand's most momentous historical periods where the effects of immigration, The Depression and World War II were part of every New Zealander's life (and many Australians too), in his chosen sport of wrestling, he enjoyed an exceptionally long-lasting and eventful sporting career even with his sight disability.
This included winning the national title in the highly contested lightweight division no less than nine times, beating a heavyweight even though he was in the lightweight division, and competing in a National Championships aged 61.
There is a strong Australian link in the book too, because my grandfather was selected to compete at the 1950 Empire Games in Auckland, and was controversially dropped, but still challenged Dick Gerrard, Australia's most successful amateur wrestler ever to an unofficial bout at the Games. And who ended up winning you ask? Well you'll have to buy a book to find out!
At the event you will have the opportunity to order the book for only $25 (normally $32.95) but please be aware only cash and cheques will be accepted. You can also order the book any time on my website: http://www.morethanmeetstheeye.co.nz
In my ongoing commitment to support relevant charities with any business ventures I am involved in, $1 of any sales will go towards The Fred Hollows Foundation.
Looking forward to catching up with many of you at the events soon and please note RSVPs are required for both - direct to Noosa Library for the Noosa event and direct to me on email@example.com
for the Alexandra Headland event (I need to know numbers by Friday 9 July).
