RE-LIVE THE MOVIE MAGIC OF YESTERYEAR

Calling all lovers of music, song and dance, love stories, silent film and slapstick comedy….Lind Lane Theatre's next production is for you!

The musical Mack and Mabel tells the story of early 1900's silent movie director Mack Sennett, and actress Mabel Normand, whose accidental rise to stardom captivated audiences of the era.

Mack introduced the world to Charlie Chaplin, Fatty Arbuckle, Buster Keaton and many others. He transformed Mabel from a naïve delicatessen delivery girl into one of the most famous film stars of their day.

Catering for all tastes, the show includes a feast of lively song and dance numbers and romantic ballads, along with the zany comedy of the Keystone Kops, the magical music of Jerry Herman, and the romance of the silent film era.

Mack and Mabel is a multi-media event, and employs the use of filmed sequences throughout the production.

An experienced cast is led by Naomi Clasohm as Mabel, Errol Morrison as Mack, Jennifer Rousset, Dennis Coleman, Jody Collie, and a host of others.

Channel 7 weather man Livio Regano makes his Sunshine Coast stage debut, as the villain who tries to steal Mabel away from Mack.

The production is directed by Nancy Kinmond, a veteran performer and director over many years, best known locally for her work at BATS (The King and I, Money and Friends). Musical Direction is by professional actor, musician and singer Allan Royal (La Cage Aux Folles, Treasure Island), with choreography by Lea-anne Grevett (La Cage Aux Folles, Nunsense, Oklahoma).

For many, Mack and Mabel will reawaken memories of the golden days of silent film, while the younger generations will be introduced to the magic of an almost forgotten era. This is one show not to be missed!

SUNSHINE COAST TAKES A STEP BACK IN TIME

Nambour Lind Lane Theatre's musical extravaganza of 2006, Mack and Mabel, combine bright performances blended with the humour of the black and white silent film era

All about silent movie director Mack Sennett, and Mabel Normand, one of the most famous actresses of their time, Mack and Mabel promises to dazzle audiences just as it is doing in its current run on London's West End.

Music and lyrics are by the incomparable Jerry Herman - who also composed the music for La Cage Aux Folles, the first production in Lind Lane's new theatre in Mitchell Street two years ago.

Mack and Mabel is unique in that it contains a multimedia element - the on-stage performers are accompanied by a number of black and white silent film sequences that are projected behind the actors during the show. These film segments have also been produced by the Mack and Mabel cast and crew.

The role of Mabel is played by the beautiful Naomi Clasohm, whose wonderful voice and stage presence are sure to captivate audiences and send them home smiling. The story is told through the eyes of Mack, who is played with strength, humour and passion by the effervescent Errol Morrison. Livio Regano, familiar to many Sunshine Coasters, plays the suave Desmond Taylor, the rival studio boss who tries to lure Mabel away from Mack.

Mack and Mabel opens at Lind Lane Theatre, 16 Mitchell St Nambour, on Wednesday 28 June at 8 pm, and continues June 30, July 1, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15 at 8 pm, with matinees Sunday 2 and Saturday 8 July at 2 pm. Bookings are strongly recommended, by phoning 54411814.Tickets $25 Adults, $22 Concession
