National Diabetes Week July 7, 2006
National Diabetes Week runs from July 9th to 15th and on Thursday the 13th between 1.00 and 2.00 pm the Noosa Library will have in attendance in the foyer Lynette Randall, an Australia Diabetes Educator from the Sunshine Coast Diabetes Centre, in Nambour available to discuss the risk of Type2 diabetes.
New research shows an estimated 275 new cases of diabetes diagnosed each day, or 100,000 annually. However, Australians still are not taking diabetes seriously. The whole community needs to be made aware of the seriousness of diabetes and associated health complications such as heart disease or stroke.
Lynette Randall will have available risk assessment tests from Diabetes Australia and will discuss the risk factors for becoming a Type 2 diabetic, prevention and what you can do if you have Type2 diabetes.
