An exhibition inspired by travel here & there

SALLY CHANDLER: As a young artist Sally worked as a studio assistant to the renowned Australian artist Charles Blackman. Earlier she trained at the Central Technical College Art School (now Queensland College of Art) under the two-times winner of the Archibald prize, William Robinson as well as finishing Arts and Education Degrees from the University of Queensland. Her European artistic adventures saw her furthering her education at the pre-eminent Chelsea and St Martins Schools in London.

Inspired by Egyptian tomb paintings, Chinese landscape scrolls and the comic strip, her exuberant yet peaceful style captures her love for the Australian wilderness and unique vision of patterns in exotic landscapes. Widely exhibited throughout Australia and internationally, Sally's work is held in private, public and corporate collections and has won awards such as the Caltex prize, the James Hardy prize for drawing and the Stanthorpe Heritage award.

Sally has successfully blended a practice in art with an exceptional career in education as a Queensland state art advisor, lecturer at Queensland University of Technology and Queensland Art Gallery tutor. Until her retirement Sally was Head of St Peters Lutheran College in Brisbane where the Chandler Visual Arts Centre was named in recognition of her service in Arts education. Sally now paints full time at her studio in Buderim and welcomes visitors to her gallery.

VALARIE A ROSS: Val Ross is an accomplished artist having more than 50 years experience in the visual arts.  Early training included study in New Zealand, England and New York. Val has exhibited in London, Toronto, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast Queensland.

Now available from her studio gallery or through solo exhibitions her works have been exhibited in most of the galleries of the Coast. In NZ her work is shown in the Saffron Gallery. A recent exhibition "Colours of the Coast" in May 2015 was a sell out.  Frequently commissioned Val's work is in collections in Australia and overseas.
