The Sunshine Coast is the place to be this New Year’s Eve with a feast of family-friendly entertainment on offer at the region’s biggest end-of-year free event, New Year’s Eve Mooloolaba.
Locals and visitors can welcome in the New Year and enjoy family-friendly entertainment along Mooloolaba Esplanade and Beach Terrace.
HELPING RURAL FAMILIES IN NEED
From floods and fires to drought and storms, Queensland has seen it all in 2019. At this year’s event, Council has partnered with the Queensland Country Women’s Association to help raise funds for rural families suffering from the current natural disasters, and Council is kicking things off with a $10,000 donation to the Rural Crisis Fund.
QCWA Rural Crisis Fund collection tins will be located at entry gates and the Loo with a View, so please dig deep and help in any way you can, every little bit counts.
This year, the Sea Stage on Beach Terrace will feature an impressive line-up of live entertainment:
4:30pm Gubbi Gubbi Dance Troupe
6.00pm Anna & Jordan
7.20pm Mo' Swagger
8.40pm Mufassa & The Pride
10.00pm DJ Tim Torque
11.00pm DJ Sean Bannister
There will be a range of fun children’s activities and entertainment at the Kids’ Zone, on Mooloolaba Beach and along Beach Terrace including street performers, Tribal Groove, Suzy the Face Painter, Katz Body Art, Bungee Trampoline, Beach Soccer, an Inflatable Obstacle Course and more.
Delicious food will be available from local street vendors, restaurants and cafes on the Esplanade.
The fireworks displays at 8.30pm and midnight, are being produced by a local company, and will be dispersed over the ocean. Tune into 91.9SeaFM to hear the soundtrack. It will also be played throughout the event site so you will hear it from anywhere along Beach Terrace, the Esplanade and beach.
New Year’s Eve Mooloolaba is a drug, alcohol and glass-free event. Intoxicated people will not be permitted entry.
Council delivers this iconic event in a relaxed, safe, security patrolled and fenced event zone and in partnership with a number of organisations including Queensland Police, SES, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service, Safe Nite Out, Red Frogs, Queensland Ambulance Service and Sunshine Coast First Aid Volunteers, ensuring public safety is paramount.
To light-up your NYE celebrations, you can bring battery operated LED products. Help us protect the environment, waterways and marine life by ensuring you bring your own empty water bottle and leave helium balloons and disposable chemical glow products at home.
A reminder to pet owners in the vicinity to ensure their pets are safe and secure during the fireworks.
Visit council’s website for public transport, parking and road closure information.
