Ian Lowe, Emeritus professor at Griffith University, will introduce the latest presentations by international big picture thinkers, Nicole Foss and David Holmgren at the Hungerford Hall, Nambour High School on Thursday 3rd July from 7.00 pm.
In Building Resilience in an Era of Limits to Growth, Nicole Foss will explore the links between the converging pressures facing us – economic contraction, peak energy and geopolitical stress. She will outline the implications for our everyday lives and share practical solutions she has observed from around the world.
In his presentation, Permaculture Surfing the Property Bubble Collapse, David Holmgren will outline practical strategies to help households and communities survive, thrive and contribute to a better world. He will draw from 30 years of permaculture teaching, designing and demonstrating rural and urban agriculture food production systems for sustainable living, Transition activism and personal example.
Over the coming decades we face many challenges as a consequence of the approaching limits to growth in finance, energy, the environment, resources and climate. Combinations of these factors will impact on the trajectory human society has been traveling during our present era of the growth imperative. Many see our current path as being unsustainable. Nicole Foss, David Holmgren and Prof Ian Lowe have practical strategies for adapting our society in order to transition to a socially just, environmentally responsible and life-sustaining future.
