The Noosa Malibu Clubs Festival of surfing will be held from January 3rd until the 7th. The sign on day and traditional welcome by mixing the waters from around the globe will be held on Tuesday 2nd of March. This is a fun afternoon with hula dances doing a Hawaiian welcome and the Proudfoot brothers welcoming the surfers with an indigenous Australian welcome complete with didgeridoo's.
Competition starts Wednesday morning bright and early.
Finals day will be Sunday the 7th of March starting at 7.00AM so come for the whole event or just a few days. But don't miss the finals. More Details below:
The festival committee have been working overtime to make sure that the 2004 festival is one to remember. Club president Reid Johnson blew us all away with his ideas for the 2004 festival theme. This will be kept secrete until a few details are ironed out with some immortals in longboard folk law. The vibs are electric. The festival has attracted Surftech & Golden Breed as major sponsors. Surftech for the Surftech men's and woman's pro events and Golden Breed once again showing how committed they are to longboarding by again putting up the cash for the Golden Breed noserider. Again the divisional sponsors are showing continued support in events such as the Classic Malibu amateur 9-foot open, Noosa Longboards old mal, Gerry Lopez Int O/35, Beachbeat O/45, Hawaiian O/50, Madill's O/55, Finch Amt Woman, Finch J/Girls, Gordon & Smith U/18 & Noosa Malibu Club U/14.
The Noosa festival has become the event of the southern hemisphere if you're serious about longboarding. The festival caters for over 400 competitors in all divisions with a number of novelty events to keep everyone happy.
The many point and beach breaks around Noosa will keep the most hardened of surfers satisfied while their not surfing First Point with 5 other competitors. Ti'tree is everyone's favourite but there is nothing like those long right handers that roll through the National park into Little Cove to make the trip north well worthwhile.
There isn't to many places in the world were you can be hangin 10 in your heat or final at a world class point break then after a 50 metre walk up the beach sit down in one of Noosa's fine restaurants, café's or bars for a well earned rest. The shopping in Hastings Street is also an attraction for the surfing or none surfing wives were most brand names are catered for, just like Rodeo Drive, so bring along the wife and kids.
Entertainment for the 2004 festival is still in the planing stages but we are sure that everyone will have a great time stompin and rockin for the five days.
Entry and payment will be made only by cheque and post in Aussie $.
So get waxed up and come along.
