Free boat trips, stand-up paddling, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, a reptile show, food and children's fun are all on the program at the annual Noosa Festival of Water at the Noosa Botanic Gardens on Sunday June 30.
The festival's free entertainment and activities in the Botanic Gardens, Lake Macdonald Amphitheatre and on Lake Macdonald showcase many of the wonderful aspects of the adjoining Noosa and Great Sandy Biospheres with a program of Watery activities, demonstrations and entertainment.
Lake highlights of the festival, hosted by the Lake Macdonald Catchment Care Group, include the inaugural Lake Macdonald Catch and Release Fishing Competition at Cooroora Scout Camp (enter for a chance to win a Viking Fishing Kayak); free boat trips across Lake Macdonald to tour the Noosa Cod Hatchery; free kids’ fishing clinic with Volunteers from the Lake Borumba Fishing Stocking Association (all gear supplied); Noosa Stand Up Paddle; free kayak and pushbikes from Ride on Mary; and Take a Kid Sailing with Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club.
Entertainment in the amphitheatre includes Noosa Pipe Band, The Flumes, The Tapper Girls, Gubbi Gubbi indigenous dancers, Geckoes Wildlife show, free face painting and jumping castle.
Also see Reptile Awareness displays in the gardens, Permaculture display, children’s art activities, and refuel at the many food stalls.
A courtesy bus will operate from parking areas along Lake Macdonald Drive. Wheelchair accessible.
