Noosa Festival of Surfing -- 15-22nd March
Already a permanent fixture on Surfing Australia's annual calendar, the Noosa Festival of Surfing aims to cement its international status as a benchmark surf-lifestyle festival located in one of Australia's most popular tourism destinations - Noosa, Sunshine Coast.
In conjunction with its major event partners the event in 2009 looks to introduce more cultural elements to the Festival program, broaden the competitive disciplines, feature a stellar line-up of music and entertainment as well as showcasing some of Australia's biggest industry brand and surfing names.
Mayfiesta --Noosa's on Sale for the entire month of May
In Noosa there's always something worth celebrating, particularly during Noosa's Mayfiesta where you'll find that every day there's a new activity, experience and indulgence to savor. May is the month to take advantage of Noosa's Catalogue Sale that includes some very hot deals on accommodation, tours, retail and restaurants along with enjoying an array of special events.
Settler's Cove Noosa Food and Wine Festival -- 1st -- 3rd May 2009
For the sixth year the Settler's Cove Noosa Food and Wine Festival will be back from the 1st-3rd May 2009. During this event Australia's top chefs, winemakers, restaurateurs and general food lovers mingle to learn, taste and explore the best of Australian and local produce. Noosa Blue Water Swim -- 17 May
The Noosa Blue Water Swim is gaining momentum with each passing year and continues to win over swimming enthusiasts looking for a great destination event heading into the more temperate season -- and what better place to escape then Noosa.
You can be part of the Noosa Blue Water Swim by competing in either the 2km Noosa Blue Water Swim from Tea Tree Bay around the headland to Noosa Main Beach or the 1km Ocean Swim from Little Cove to Main Beach. If you think those distances are a bit out of your league then we have the 500m Splash and Nipper Challenge along Noosa Main Beach.
Noosa Longweekend 19-28th June
Combine arts and culture with sun and sand at The Noosa Longweekend in one of the world's most enviable destinations. The Noosa Longweekend is an annual 10-day festival of theatre, dance, music, visual arts, food, film, literature that has become recognised as one of Australia's foremost regional cultural events. The Noosa Longweekend offers a unique cultural experience that engages audiences with a quality artistic program, world-class cuisine, and the stunning natural environment unique to Noosa. The festival has hosted a star-studded guest list that includes: authors Clive James, Tariq Ali, Peter Carey, Thomas Keneally, Bryce Courtenay, and Tim Winton; playwright David Williamson; journalist John Pilger; actors Bryan Brown, Drew Forsythe, John Bell and Jean Kittson; artists Michael Leunig and Mirka Mora; film directors Bruce Beresford and Rolf De Heer; the famed Goldner String Quartet, Academy Award winning cinematographer Russell Boyd; singers Marina Prior, Caroline O'Connor and Kate Miller-Heidke;. The Noosa Longweekend presents a broad program of ticketed, low-cost and free events that entertains, enlivens and inspires its many different audiences.
Billed as the 'hard way to see Noosa' the Noosa Enduro is a 100km or 60km mountain bike adventure race taking in some of Noosa's prime off-road real estate and takes competitors through stunning trails, tracks, tablelands and three major climbs at Mt Tinbeerwah, Sheppersons Hill and Cooran Tablelands Range that boasts the hill nicknamed 'Mother'. The Noosa Enduro aims to raise money in support of the SHINE project (Safer Homes in Noosa Everyday). This charity purely supports the provision of services and infrastructure to assist victims of Domestic and Family Violence on the Sunshine Coast.
Viridian Noosa Half Marathon -- 2nd August
Catering for people of all running levels and abilities the Viridian Noosa Half Marathon incorporates the Viridian Noosa Half Marathon (21km), The Viridian Vertical -- stair sprint (3.1km), the Noosa 10km run and the Noosa 5km run/walk. Over its 19 year history of what is regarded as one of Australia's premier half marathon events the Viridian Noosa Half running festival also boasts one the of the fastest, flattest and most picturesque courses in Australia. It also attracts some of our highest profile long distance runners including regular Noosa visitor Steve Moneghetti.
Noosa Jazz Festival -- 3rd -- 6th September
Recognised as one of Noosa's premier events and one of Australia's most popular Jazz industry gatherings, the Noosa Jazz Festival brings together over 150 Australian and international artists, producing an impressive 4-day Jazz spectacular. Artists perform in over 20 of Noosa's favourite restaurants as well as in purpose-built jazz venues. All Noosa visitors and local residents are invited to attend the numerous open-air concerts, performances, historical jazz feature-shows and daily free gigs to experience the huge variety of jazz our musicians have to offer. The 2009 event will welcome new styles of Jazz from high profile, mainstream genres as introduced with The Cat Empire in 2007.
Nov - Noosa Triathlon -- 28th October -- 1st November
The Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival is steeped in rich history and uniqueness not matched anywhere in the world. The festival is brought together with an irresistible mix of sport and entertainment coupled with sun, sea and surf in one of Australia's most popular destinations. The weeklong festival of swimming, cycling, running, triathlon events for everyone from 7-80+, two golf tournaments (celebrity and corporate), massive sport and lifestyle expo, corporate/VIP facilities, a Miss and Mr Noosa Model Search and a serious after Party you'll also need to train for. The highlight of the festival is the triathlon which draws 5,500 triathletes each year to the Olympic-distance course (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run). The Noosa Tri is the 3rd largest triathlon in the world only surpassed by London and Chicago.
Add a whole host of high profile personalities for celebrity spotting and its little wonder spectator numbers swell to more then 30,000 with a total of 8,500 competitors across all events.
