You have been growing your own vegetables but are now ready to learn more about soils and plants. In this course we will delve deeper into the wonderful world of living soil and healthy maintenance of plants.
Start with a property tour – Seeing improvement from initial hard, harsh land (2011) to abundant food gardens two years later (2013). You will learn about soils – minerals, trace elements, microbes, microbial stimulants, seaweed, fish emulsion, worm castings, and liquid manures, green manure crops, inoculants, foliar feeds, hot and cold compost and different soils. We will also discuss weeds and more on planting and harvesting. You will see and learn about diverting water away in floods and capturing rainwater in drought. We’ll do Brix tests on food, comparing the quality of food and discuss how healthy soils relate to healthy people. Of course we will be covering, where to plant and what to plant with and how to harvest these plants.
Bring your swimsuit/towel to enjoy a swim at lunchtime or canoeing on my beautiful lake. You will take home buckets of free samples to get you started growing food today.
