What an Achievement!
On May 19, Palmwoods Markets will celebrate its 1st birthday. This is a great reflection on community spirit.
There are over 30 regular stallholders from the Palmwoods, Woombye and Eudlo region, with more interest from Buderim, Nambour and surrounding areas. Evidently more locals want to promote their businesses and products. Palmwoods offers this unique showcase opportunity through the Markets.
There have been many success stories throughout these four seasons. From day one, Maxwell Hajncl, aged 7 years of Artists' Gardens set a goal to raise funds for his family's trip to Europe. He reached that target during this period. Well done, Max!
Including Max, 5 children have set up their own stalls with encouragement from parents and established stallholders.
Some businesses kick-started at the Markets and have expanded their clientele so successfully that they can now operate independently. The dedicated stallholders are keen to see the Palmwoods Markets develop. The organic produce stalls now has an email list and sends notification of what's on offer each market day. This is a great way to give visitors a personal invitation, saving them time as well as announcing what's in store.
Locals have expressed interest in moving the markets to a more prominent position in the town. As Palmwoods itself expands, the future vision is for the Markets to grow as a valid identity, continuing to benefit locals, visitors and businesses in a variety of ways.
Any major event in the community is always the result of a group effort. Market Co-ordinator Helen Langlois would like to thank Councillor Jenny McKay, The Palmwoods Hotel, The Sunshine Valley News, and Palmwoods IGA for their contributions throughout this milestone year.
The market stalls consists of top quality well-priced fresh organic produce, (including freshly ground Montville coffee), plants, herbs, flowers, sea-food, hand-made jewellery and soaps, home-made pies and cakes, pottery, health and body products, massage, clothing, linen, artworks and crafts, information on home water filters, tank maintenance, and - coming soon - advice on pest control.
Enjoy talented musicians of the Sunshine Coast while savouring the freshest coffee, reading the morning paper, and tasting delicacies such as Baklava, Turkish Delight or Japanese Dumplings.
Come and celebrate this great achievement. Palmwoods Markets are held every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, 7 am-12 noon, in the Hotel car park. For more details, please contact Helen Langlois. Ph: 5445 0314 Mob: 0416 217 093
