This year sees the Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association (QPCYWA) celebrating its 60th birthday. As part of these celebrations, a group of young representatives from branches across the Greater Brisbane North region are organising the 'Diversion' festival, to be held in Redcliffe on Saturday 24th May from 6pm-9.30pm.
Although Diversion will be open to all ages, the festival will have a specific focus on youth. The purpose of this festival is to not only celebrate 60 years of PCYC, but also provide young people with the opportunity to have a positive experience in a drug and alcohol free environment.
Diversion will be an outdoor event, featuring two up-and-coming local bands, as well as a headline act. There will also be the opportunity for various organisations and groups to set up stalls promoting drug and alcohol free options, advice and information for young people.
As members of the PCYC's State Youth Advisory Group, known as TILT (Tomorrow's Inspired Leaders Today), Louise Parkes and myself are responsible for representing the region of Greater Brisbane North, which encompasses PCYC's from Fortitude Valley right through to the Sunshine Coast. As such, we are responsible for facilitating the Diversion Committee, and are contacting your organisation on behalf of the group.
We are currently looking for any organisations or groups who would be interested in setting up a stall at this event, with the focus of promoting drug and alcohol free options. It would be greatly appreciated if you could forward this information to any other organisations who meet these criteria as well.
