Over 120 people from overseas destinations such as the United Kingdom, United States of America, Africa, China and Japan will pledge their allegiance to our country at this year's Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony in the Maroochy Shire.
Maroochy Mayor Alison Grosse said 105 adults and 24 children would receive citizenship certificates at the Nambour Civic Centre on Monday 26 January.
"On our national day we will welcome 129 new Australians into the Maroochy community," Cr Grosse said.
"Australia Day is an opportunity to reflect on our heritage and celebrate our rich and diverse culture, and the Nambour Civic Centre will come alive with people from many nationalities and cultures wanting to call Australia their home.
"Maroochy is extremely lucky to have such a diverse, multicultural society and I warmly welcome these new Australians into our community."
Cr Grosse added that Australia Day provides us all with the opportunity to reflect on the meaning and importance of being Australian and to remember the things that are great about our nation - the diversity of our population, our indigenous heritage, and our freedom.
The Maroochy Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony will be held at the Nambour Civic Centre on Monday 26 January commencing at 12.00 noon.
