Community Involvement Opportunity - Peregian Streetscape 17/03/2006
Noosa Council is holding two community design workshops on Monday 27th March to develop a Master Plan for the Peregian Beach Shopping Village.
The Master Plan will build on the ideas proposed in the original concept plan developed with input from the community in 2003, with particular emphasis on the village square and Heron Street. Once the Master Plan is finalised, council staff can then develop a costing and timetable to enable Council to consider the project for funding in the 06/07 year. Urban planning consultant Shaun Walsh emphasised the importance of having community input at this vital stage.
"We want the workshops to be both an enjoyable experience for participants, and to deliver real community-supported outcomes for Peregian Village. We are basically letting the community have the paper and pens to design the village centre and solve key issues, assisted by some experienced designers" says landscape architect and urban planning consultant Shaun Walsh.
The designs from the workshops will be used to prepare a draft Master Plan, which will then again go back to the community for review and comment.
Two separate sessions are being held:
9:30am to 12:30pm 27 March Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club
6:30pm to 9:30pm 27 March Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club.
If you are interested in attending one of the workshop sessions please contact Noosa Council Design Manager Ross Sanderson on 54 495 215, or Council's consultant Shaun Walsh on 0407 640 678.
In addition the final design for Stage 1 (Kingfisher Drive) will also be on display in the village centre from 1:30pm to 5:30 on 27 March. People are welcome to come along to view the plans and have a chat with the landscape architects.
