Member for Fisher Peter Slipper is this month continuing his successful series of community events that give local residents a chance to speak to him directly in an informal and friendly setting.
Some 40 local residents joined Mr Slipper and LNP Candidate for Glass House Andrew Powell at a free community sausage sizzle at Tesch Park in Maleny in December.
Another similar sausage sizzle will be held in Maleny on 14 February. For details and to RSVP please phone Mr Slipper's office on 5443 3555 or 1300 301 981.
"The sausage sizzles provide residents with an opportunity to discuss key local issues in an informal setting -- and enjoy a sausage or two at the same time," Mr Slipper said.
"With so many of us leading such busy lives during the week, with work and school drop-offs and the like, it is often difficult to find time to do many things. These informal community events help to address that issue."
Mr Slipper and Mr Powell met several local residents, who spoke to them about key local issues that they believe need to be addressed at a state level.
Mr Slipper urged local hinterland residents to consider attending the community event to share their issues of concern and an exchange of ideas.
Mr Slipper held a number of sausage sizzles and community meetings around the Fisher electorate throughout 2008. Sausage sizzles have this year already been held at Wamuran and Mt Mee. Events will be held at Glass House on 7 February and Maleny on 14 February. Contact Peter's office at 5443 3555 for further information.
"The weather has been wonderful at recent events; the people have been friendly, and it was a great opportunity to discuss topics of concern directly with the residents about their concerns," Mr Slipper said.
