30 November 2009  Maroochy River Catchment News

Dear Friends of the Maroochy River,

Where has the year gone to? It has certainly been a year of triumphs, tribulations and interesting conversations. When it poured, and when it didn't rain...we got a dust storm! Chuck in an oil spill to spice things up and hey presto.......we have 2009!  The many and varied highlights and achievements throughout the year could not have been possible without the fantastic support of everyone.

Firstly, thank you to all the volunteers who help with the water testing, nursery work, planting, office admin, river cleanups and the multitude of other project. Over the year it adds up to thousands of people lending a hand and hundreds of thousands of hours of work. All of this needs coordination and without our fantastic staff support could not be achieved.

It can be quite an interesting logistical exercise but I think we have a streamlined communication process and supporting framework which keeps everyone happy (I hope). And thanks must also go to the funding bodies for the various community projects, in particular the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, SEQ Catchments and the dept of Employment. So as we say goodbye to 2009, take some time to reflect on how you have made the Maroochy River catchment a little bit healthier by your actions.
