It’ll be a first time experience for many and a nostalgic trip down memory lane for others when Starry Night Outdoor Movies host their first “pop up” Drive-in with a screening of ‘The Goonies’ in Eumundi on Friday 15 August.
The event will take place in the Eumundi Markets Carpark on Napier Road, with gates opening 5pm and the screening starting at 6.30pm.
After many years of hosting outdoor movies, Starry Nights Director Trent Harvison is excited to be making his Drive-In dream a reality.
“With its fabulous sense of history and passion for the arts, Eumundi is the perfect location for a monthly Drive-in screening,” Trent says.
“Car spaces are limited to around 100 vehicles, and there will be no pre-booking for this screening – simply first in, best dressed,” he says. “There will also be capacity for “walk ins”, so bring your chairs and rugs for that option”.
“For our first Drive-in, entry will simply be by donation, and there’ll be wood-fired pizzas and snacks for sale, including the all-essential popcorn!”
“We’ve had a custom-made 10 x 6 metre inflatable screen built that will be teamed with a massive professional digital projector,” Trent says. “Sound will be transmitted via the car’s FM radio Eumundi Drive-in, and we’ll have speakers down the front for our “walk in” guests”, Trent says.

More about 'The Goonies' – rated PG
The Goonies are a group of friends living in a village - the group's leader Mikey Walsh, his older brother Brand and gang members Andy, Data, Stef, Mouth, and Chunk. They are being evicted from their homes, which are soon to be demolished.
Setting out to find a way of saving their homes, The Goonies find a treasure map and they set off in search for the treasure of the legendary pirate One-Eyed Willy - located beneath an abandoned restaurant.
Written by Steven Spielberg, this is truly an 80's classic and is one of Starry Nights most requested titles. Great fun!
