Post-Budget Community Forum with Dr Andrew Leigh MP, Federal Member for Fraser, Shadow Assistant Treasurer, Shadow Minister for Competition and Federal Labour Candidate for Fisher, Bill Gissane.
Labor candidate for Fisher, Bill Gissane, will host Shadow Assistant Treasurer, Dr Andrew Leigh MP, at the Maleny Community Centre for a public forum to analyse the local effects of the federal budget.
“Federal budgets always contain reams of information that can be difficult for average people like you and me to digest,” said Mr Gissane.
“Dr Andrew Leigh has a wealth of experience in economics and I look forward to hearing his expert analysis of this budget.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Andrew Leigh to the Sunshine Coast.
“This is a free event, open to the public, so I encourage everyone to come along.”
Mr Gissane said there is now a clear choice for voters at this forthcoming federal election.
“This election will be a contest between Labor putting people first, and the LNP looking after vested interests and big banks,” he said.
“Malcolm Turnbull and his mates will make balancing the average household budget even more difficult, with their cuts to family payments, cuts to Medicare and cuts to penalty rates.
“A Shorten Labor government will ensure we have better paid and better protected jobs, better-funded schools, a fully-funded health system and 50% renewable energy by 2030.
“The choice for voters here on the Sunshine Coast could not be clearer: another three years of LNP neglect or a Labor representative who will stand up for local residents, local jobs and local services.”
