Thanks for your interest in our upcoming TEEN LIPS event due to take place on Wed 1 Nov.
I am afraid that the organisers of the event have, as of late on Friday, made the executive decision to postpone the event until the New Year due to a number of reasons.
These include one of the key speakers, Alison Mooney from NZ now being unavailable, and secondly the feedback we have had from parents that they would love to come but that the event is just not good timing with school exams and other year end commitments.
There has been considerable interest in the event, so we will be in touch with information in the New Year with revised event details.
We apologise for any inconvenience the change of dates may cause and look forward to working with you then.
Mums wanting to put their daughters in front of inspiring and positive role models and to give them a hand up, rather than a hand out in life, have a great opportunity in the form of an upcoming event aimed specifically at mothers and their teenage daughters.
Called "TEEN LIPS", the event will be put on by highly successful local company LIPS (Ladies Initiating Prosperity and Success), and comes shortly after the announcement by Premier Peter Beattie that the Queensland Government will take a closer look at teenage behaviour and issues in the region via a Youth Violence Taskforce following the death of local boy15 year old Matthew Stanley.
"Some people say being a teenager is the best years of your life, but there is so much to contend with and not a lot of outlets or guidance available to teenagers on the Coast other than the odd purely social event and the usual negative topics of sex, drugs, violence and alcohol use," says director of LIPS Rachael Bermingham.
Rather than cover old ground, Bermingham says the TEEN LIPS event which will be held on Wednesday 1 November from 4pm - 9pm, at the University of the Sunshine Coast, will treat teenagers like the adults they will shortly become, and put them in front of a team of five incredibly inspiring, successful and informative local female role models.
The role models include nutritionist Cyndi O'Meara, personality profiler and speaker Allison Mooney, financial planner Jodie McIver, relationships expert Jackie Holt and Bermingham who specialises in life balancing, business and marketing.
The event will be the first to appeal to teenage girls and their parents on such topics covering key life skills that aren't necessarily covered as part of the school curriculum, but which are essential for successful transition into the adult world.
"It will also be a great opportunity for some quality mother-daughter bonding time," adds Bermingham.

Allison Mooney -Personality Profiler
Allie Mooney has vast experience in the educational field, inspiring and motivating teenagers. Her presentation deals with understanding people and effectively communicating with them - an essential skill for mothers and their teenage daughters. Allie will discuss understanding personalities, boosting confidence and valuing yourself as a teenager.
Cyndi O'Meara - The Nutritionist
Cyndi is not your typical nutritionist. She disagrees with low fat, low calorie diets, she thinks chocolate can be good for you, coffee is not so bad, loves butter and thinks that cheating and eating yummy foods is all part of a good balanced diet.
Cyndi will be speaking on how teenagers and their mums can develop their natural beauty through a balanced, healthy approach to eating.
Rachael Bermingham - The Motivator & Business Strategist
A passionate, adventurous and gutsy lady, Rachael is a business strategist, life motivator and speaker. Having tried her hand at a wide array of career and life pursuits including shark feeding, hairdressing and martial arts, she is now a business strategist, speaker and life motivator, has written two books, and manages three businesses around her role of being a full time mum, all built from the comfort of her own home and on zero capital.
She consistently sets and achieves her goals and will speak at TEEN LIPS on deciding what you want out of life, how to set and achieve goals, and creating life legacies.
Jackie Holt - Relationship & Stress Expert
Dr Holt has seen burnout up close and personal. She began her life as a teacher, and says stress can be intensified by a sense of being trapped. With a Bachelor of Education, Jackie then focused on developing practical strategies to reduce stress and improve work/life balance and evaluated these as part of her PhD.
Dr Holt will be speaking on relationships, peer group pressure and how to rise above 'mean girls' and sexual issues at Teen LIPS.
Jodie McIver - Money Magician
Jodie McIver started her financial planning career with the ANZ and quickly became their number one planner before moving to head up her own office under local business Storm Financial.
A 'money magician', Jodie looks after millions of dollars for her clients and will be sharing very real and practical money managing strategies that parents and teens can benefit from now and well into the future.
