Hello Fellow Carers of the Maroochy River,
Just a quick note to invite you the Pouring of the Waters Ceremony, Saturday 3rd October at 2pm at Stumers Creek Beach, Coolum. The Pouring of the Waters Ceremony emerged as an engaging ritual to honour the waterways around us, our connection with the river systems, and our gratitude to those caring for our local environment. It also acknowledges all of us who love the waterways. See invitation attached.
We will also have an interactive stall at the Coolum Kite Festival during the weekend of the 3rd and 4th October. We will be promoting and educating festival visitors about our natural environment and the animals and insects that fly in our skies as well. The endangered Richmond Birdwing Butterfly will be the theme for the display with huge butterfly art installations in Stumers Creek and Butterfly Kite making workshops for children and for those young at heart. Come and make a kite and learn about our beautiful butterflies. Butterfly attracting vines and plants will also be available for sale.
Also, this Friday is the Catchment Crunch with the theme of Froggy French Feast. Bring along a plate of French food to share and be ready for a game of Petanque. A great way to meet people who care for the Maroochy River.
