Help fight prostate cancer
Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in Australia and to help raise awareness Sunshine Coast Division 8 Councillor Debbie Blumel will hold a special morning tea on Friday 18 September in her office at Maroochydore.
Cr Blumel will be joined by well known former radio broadcaster Allan Hubbard and Rob Tonge from the Sunshine Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group.
"Today we are meeting, during Prostate Awareness Month, to help build awareness and contribute to finding a cure for prostate cancer," Cr Blumel said.
"Prostate cancer touches or affects so many families---affecting one in nine Australian men.
"Shockingly, eight men die from prostate cancer every single day.
"I invite everyone to come along to join in the conversation. There will be scones, with jam and cream, tea and coffee (gold coin donation)."
The morning tea will be held on Friday 18 September 2009, 10--11 am at Cr Blumel's office at 11 Ocean Street, Maroochydore.
"If you can't make it, please consider holding your own gathering to help fight prostate cancer."
For catering purposes, please call Cr Blumel's office on 5475 8742.
The Sunshine Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group meets the last Tuesday of each month (except December) from 9:30 am to 12 noon at the Maoochy RSL Sub Branch meeting room. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org
