Residents right across the former Noosa Shire will have the chance to weigh up the pros and cons of de-amalgamation first hand in the next fortnight at a series of public meetings.
The meetings, from the 21st through to the 27th of February are being sponsored by a range of local groups - from Pomona Community House and the Peregian Beach Community Association to Tourism Noosa and the Noosa Chamber of Commerce.
Allan Bonsall from Kin Kin will be mediating the forums, and he says it's a great chance for those who haven't yet made up their minds to focus on what sort of local government they want for the future.
Mr Bonsall says the meetings will examine the implications of a YES or a NO vote, and he's encouraging people to think long and hard about what's important to them and which council is most likely to protect their interests.
He says "it's not just about who you believe or don't believe on the costs. It's about much more than that.
This is our one chance to decide how this area will be locally governed for the rest of this century. We need all the information we can get to consider such an important decision."
