Local volunteers will again be recognised at the second Kawana electorate Queensland Day Community Awards, which are to be held on Saturday June 18.
Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie will again host the annual awards ceremony following the success of the inaugural event in June last year.
The awards recognise the invaluable efforts of local volunteers through different community groups and initiatives across the Kawana electorate.
"What better way to recognise our volunteers, then at a time when we celebrate the birth of Queensland," Mr Bleijie said.
"Nominations are now open for the June 18 event.
"I would encourage local community groups and not-for-profit organisations to nominate people from within their groups, so we as a community can celebrate their efforts.
"Last year we had 60 award winners, so let's see if we can beat that this year.
"I regularly attend meetings of local P&C and P&F associations, neighbourhood watch groups, residents associations and recently spent a night assisting Street Angels, so I am aware of the vital services that our volunteers provide to our community," Mr Bleijie said.
It is easy to nominate as no formal criteria has been set, therefore opening the awards to any volunteer who participates in making our community a better place.
